Did someone say NOODLES???
The weight loss phase of our Weight Control Program does not allow any sugar, carbohydrates or fat. So that means no noodles while losing weight.
A common questions that I get is, "Will I ever get to eat noodles or pasta again?"
Well that depends....the noodles and pasta made from wheat flour, that we all know and love will not be invited back to the table EVER, but there is a noodle made out of yams that are welcome. This is a Japanese noodle called shirataki. It is very low in carbohydrates and gluten free. They can be found in most grocery stores and will be located in the refrigerated section. They are most commonly packaged in water.
Here is a delicious recipe which uses the shirataki noodles that you can start enjoying once you have completed the weight loss phase and are well into the maintenance phase.
Chicken 'Noodle' Soup
Ingredients:
3 cans organic, low sodium chicken broth
5 ounces of chicken breast
1 package of clear or brown speckled Shirataki Noodles
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped celery
1 tablespoon NO Salt seasoning
1 bag of frozen vegetables
Directions:
Cut the chicken in cubes and boil in chicken broth. Add all of the remaining ingredients and simmer for 30 minutes.
Yield: Serving size is 1 1/2 cups, yielding 4 servings.
Notes: To make this into a complete balanced meal add a huge green salad with healthy dressing. This is a healthy delicious easy dish to make and enjoy at anytime that the whole family will love.
